C2GRT W3D1: Circles around those still on the couch

Okay, today’s sets are insane. I pushed as hard as I could and managed to get a pretty decent effort out of myself, but I couldn’t complete the full compliment of exercises.

The ruck part was fun, like always. I’m trying to vary my course each time to find new terrain for my feet and different sets of slopes. I like the ruck portions.

The “trifecta of pain” on the other hand… I managed 6 pull ups (well, full extension to 90 degrees. Some people don’t count those); 35 sit ups; and 51 push ups. Interesting that my sit ups have dipped so low. I used to be pretty good at those.

I could only manage 36 and 31 push presses before my arms gave out, and 11 and 10 burpees. I did all the squats and body rows, though.

Lastly, I swapped out 30, 4-count flutter kicks for each of the 1.5mi bikes.

Plan

I knew looking at the PFT standards was a bad idea before I did it. I have to keep reminding myself that I’m going straight from the couch into this plan, and that the improvement I’ve made is better in every way than sitting on the couch.

My plan for going forward is to forget about what I “should” be able to do and focus completely on making progress.

I forgot rule #1: I will do the best I can. There are some objectives I won’t be able to meet, at my current level of fitness, but I have to start somewhere to get anywhere.
